One of my all time favorite bands, especially live.

They aren't touring for a new album or anything. I already saw the 10,000 Days Tour a few years back, and from what I've been reading, people are saying this is the best Tool show they've seen.

Should be cool.

Also:

Just to show how old I'm getting....instead of going out before the show to tie one (or a few) on, me and my buddy are going out for a steak dinner at Smith and Wollensky's.

The times sure are changing!

Just spoke to someone that saw another show on this tour. Said it might have been their best tour ever.

They playing in San Diego last night-I was hoping there might be some clips of that show posted on the net already.

I'm really jazzed. I hope I can get some pictures.

Lots of great clips of the 2010 tour on youtube.

I'd go to Smith and Wollensky's and then tie one on AFTER the show!
The wife and I had dinner the evening of our first anniversary at the Smith and Wollensky's in South Beach.
The appetizer was there Sashimi grade tuna and Kobe steak sushi.. a fillet for the main course and Jack Daniels Bourbon pecan pie dessert and a bottle of really nice wine.
I actually have a pic that I took of my fillet in our wedding/anniversary photos. :)

If anyone's interested, I posted in a Tool thread on The Gear Page about the show last night. I just copied it here:

Caught the show last night in Vegas. Amazing.

I really wouldn't have expected anything less.

I really liked the setlist. Slightly different from when I saw them on the 10,000 days tour. The opening with "Third Eye" just hits you right between the eyes (no pun intended).

Visuals were fantastic. Crowd energy was terrific. Sound quality was great. Planet Hollywood Theater (used to be the Aladdin Theater) is a great place to see a show.

To the previous poster that asked about the visuals-the way I describe Tool to any of my friends that haven't seen them live is usually to describe it as just getting your senses pummeled. The entire package is great. I'd compare the "effect" (not necessarily the music) of their live show to a Marilyn Manson or a Nine Inch Nails Show.

Those out there that "get" the band (which I think do, having been a fan since the beginning) will be in for a real treat seeing them on this tour.

I will add here, that I thought the opening band (Rajas) completely sucked, except for the drummer. The drummer joined Tool onstage for a really nice dual drum thing during Tool's encore.
